A little bit about me

I’m Kate Parkins (she/her), a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, registered with the BACP.

I moved to Newcastle from Yorkshire over 15 years ago, before training for four years at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Alongside being a counsellor, I work in communications for a national mental health charity.

When it comes down to it, I’m just really interested in people! Being a therapist doesn't give me all the answers - I’m a work in progress too, and life can always throw the unexpected into the mix.

But, in my experience, counselling can be moving, challenging, thought-provoking, and freeing - no matter what stage of life we’re at, or how settled or ‘messy’ we feel.

If this chimes with you, chances are we would work well together.

Over the years, I have worked with people facing all kinds of challenges. I work with people who are living with anxiety, low mood, stress, loss, lack of motivation, relationship difficulties, grief, climate anxiety, and perfectionism.
